The Maude Roxby Wetland is one of the most tranquil places open to the public in the Okanagan. Since the Rotary Club began its enhancements to the wetlands in the 1980s the serene landscape has been transformed to be not only a relaxing backdrop for the everyday but also a Bird Sanctuary.

Located in South Kelowna, off of Francis Street, the awe inspiring views immediately encapsulate the inspiring calmness, which is not only ideal for human kind but also for the feathered beings that call this place a sanctuary and home. Although many species have been recorded in this safe haven, those which halt their frequent flying often to visit are Tundra Swans, generally followed by Trumpeter Swans, Sparrows, Red-winged Blackbirds, Warblers of many shades, the ever present California Quails, Mourning Doves, and Sandpipers.

Although these birds are present during various seasons of the year, it is always a game of trying to locate them in and amongst the plethora of Gulls. Nevertheless the best time for viewing a wide range of species is between Mid-March and Mid-September. If winged animals are not your forte, the beaches and boardwalk are pleasures for all to wander in any season. Ultimately, the Maude Roxby Wetland and Bird Sanctuary is one of the best parks to tame any tension with the panoramas for any set of eyes to feast their eyes on all year: snowy mountains, cityscapes, and wetland views.
